Account & Data Privacy
Where is my dog's data stored?
Aevia Pup uses a local-first architecture. Your dog's profiles, health logs, weight records, and photographs are stored in an encrypted database on your iPhone or iPad. If you have iCloud enabled, data syncs to your personal Apple CloudKit container. West Solution Consulting Corp. does not have access to your dog's health data.
Does the app send data to external servers?
Caregiver logs submitted through Aevia Pup Partner route through our secure transit system before arriving in your review queue. These logs are encrypted on the caregiver's device before transmission. We cannot decrypt or read the contents. Once you approve or reject an entry, it is either added to your local database or permanently deleted from our servers.
How do I delete my account?
Navigate to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This action will revoke your Sign in with Apple credential, wipe all local dog profiles and logs from your device, and remove any data stored in your personal iCloud container. The deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
Health Tracking & Logging
How does the metabolic calculation work?
The app calculates your dog's Resting Energy Requirement (RER) using the formula RER = 70 × (Weight in kg)^0.75, then applies adjustment coefficients for life stage (puppy, adult, senior), activity level (sedentary to working), neutered status, and breed-specific metabolic factors from our database of 82 breeds. This produces a Maintenance Energy Requirement (MER) specific to your dog.
What is the stool consistency scale?
The app uses a 1–7 Bristol-inspired scale for logging stool consistency. Scores range from 1 (hard, dry pellets) to 7 (liquid diarrhea). This standardized scale allows you and your veterinarian to track digestive health objectively over time and correlate changes with dietary modifications or medication.
Can I track multiple dogs?
Yes. You can create separate profiles for each dog in your household. Each profile maintains its own isolated timeline, health logs, weight records, and caregiver access permissions. Switching between dogs is a single tap from the sidebar.
Does Aevia Pup provide veterinary advice?
No. Aevia Pup is a record-keeping and documentation tool. All metabolic calculations, symptom tracking, and pattern observations are provided for informational purposes only. They are not medical diagnoses or treatment recommendations. Always consult your veterinarian before making decisions about your dog's health, diet, or medication.
Caregiver Access & Invitations
How do I invite a caregiver?
Navigate to your dog's profile and select Manage Caregivers. Choose the permissions you want to grant (walks only, meals only, vet care, or full access), then tap Generate Invitation. The app creates a secure Universal Link that you can share via text message, email, or AirDrop. The caregiver opens the link, downloads Aevia Pup Partner, and signs in with their Apple ID to begin logging.
Why are invitation links so long?
The invitation link contains an authorization token and a cryptographic key appended as a URL fragment (the portion after the # symbol). This fragment is processed client-side by the operating system and is never transmitted to web servers, ensuring the encryption key is shared directly between your device and your caregiver's device without our servers having access to it.
How do I revoke a caregiver's access?
Navigate to your dog's profile, select Manage Caregivers, locate the active invitation, and tap Revoke. This immediately flags the authorization token as invalid. Future log submissions from that caregiver will be rejected. Any pending entries in your review queue from that caregiver will be removed from our transit system.
Can caregivers see my personal information?
No. Caregivers using Aevia Pup Partner see only the dogs they are authorized to care for and only the logging functions you grant them permission to use. They cannot access your personal account information, billing details, other dogs in your household, or any data outside their assigned scope.
What happens to caregiver logs after I review them?
When a caregiver submits a log, it enters your secure review queue. If you approve the entry, it is added to your dog's local timeline and removed from our transit servers. If you reject it, the entry is permanently deleted from our servers without being added to your timeline. Approved entries become part of your local database and sync to your iCloud container if enabled.
Device Syncing & iCloud
How does syncing between iPhone and iPad work?
The app uses Apple's SwiftData framework with CloudKit integration. When you log an entry on your iPhone, it saves to your local database and syncs to your personal iCloud container. Your iPad, logged into the same Apple ID, retrieves the update from iCloud and applies it to its local database. This process is managed entirely by Apple's infrastructure.
Why aren't my changes syncing immediately?
Sync timing is controlled by iOS and depends on network conditions, battery status, and system load. To troubleshoot sync delays:
- Confirm both devices are connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data and logged into the same Apple ID.
- Check that iCloud is enabled for Aevia Pup under iOS Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Saved to iCloud > Aevia Pup.
- Disable Low Power Mode, as iOS may suspend background sync to conserve battery.
- Restart the app on both devices to prompt a sync cycle.
What happens if I disable iCloud?
If you disable iCloud for Aevia Pup, data will remain stored locally on each device but will no longer sync between them. Changes made on your iPhone will not appear on your iPad and vice versa. Each device will maintain its own independent database. Re-enabling iCloud will resume syncing, but conflicting entries may require manual reconciliation.
Reports & Exports
How do I export a report for my veterinarian?
Navigate to your dog's profile and select Export Report. Choose the date range you want to include. The app generates a structured PDF containing meal logs, weight trends, stool consistency patterns, symptom timelines, and medication records. You can share this PDF via email, AirDrop, or any file-sharing method supported by iOS.
What information is included in the PDF report?
The PDF report includes the following sections:
- Daily caloric intake plotted against your dog's calculated metabolic requirements.
- Stool consistency trends with a timeline showing correlations to dietary changes.
- Weight trajectory over the selected period.
- Symptom logs with severity scores and timestamps.
- Medication administration records showing who administered each dose and when.
- A summary of observations logged by all caregivers in your network.
Can I customize what appears in the report?
The report format is standardized to ensure clinical consistency. You can select the date range to include, but the content sections are fixed. This ensures veterinarians receive reports in a predictable, professional format regardless of which pet owner is using the app.
