  Privacy-first architecture. We are committed to protecting your privacy. Our service is designed with a "privacy-by-design" and "local-first" approach, ensuring that your dog's health records, dietary information, and activity data remain exclusively under your control. We do not access, analyze, monetize, or share your private information.

This Privacy Policy explains how Aevia Pup: Dog Care & Diary (the "Main App") and Aevia Pup Partner: Caregivers (the "Partner App"), collectively the "Service," collect, process, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data Stored On Your Device

The majority of your data is stored locally on your device and never leaves it unless you explicitly enable cloud backup. This includes:

Dog Profiles: Names, breeds, ages, weight histories, and activity levels
Health & Nutrition Logs: Meal records, water intake, symptoms, medications, and vet appointments
Photos: Images you capture or import to document symptoms or meals
Calculations: All calorie targets and food safety checks are computed on your device using offline databases

1.2 Data Backed Up to Your iCloud

If you enable iCloud backup, your local data is securely synced to your personal Apple iCloud account. This backup is managed entirely by Apple using their encryption protocols. We cannot access, view, or restore your iCloud data.

1.3 Data We Process for Caregiver Features

To enable secure caregiver collaboration, we process minimal authentication and routing information:

Anonymous Authentication: We use Sign in with Apple to create a secure, anonymous user identifier. We do not collect your name or email address.
Encrypted Caregiver Logs: When caregivers submit activities, the data is encrypted on their device before transmission. We store only encrypted data that we cannot read or decrypt.
Basic Routing Information: Limited metadata (such as dog profile IDs and timestamps) to ensure logs reach the correct owner.

2. How Caregiver Sharing Works

The caregiver feature allows you to securely share limited access with dog walkers, pet sitters, or family members. Here's how we protect your privacy:

End-to-End Encryption: All caregiver submissions are encrypted on their device before being sent. We cannot read or decrypt this information.
You Control Access: Only you can approve or reject caregiver entries. You can revoke access at any time.
Automatic Deletion: Pending caregiver submissions are automatically deleted after 7 days if not reviewed.
Zero-Knowledge System: Encryption keys are never sent to our servers, ensuring we have no way to access the content of caregiver logs.

3. How We Use Information

We do not have access to your dog's health, nutrition, or activity data. Therefore, we cannot use your information for advertising, analytics, or any other commercial purposes.

The minimal authentication data we process is used only to:

Verify your identity using Sign in with Apple
Route encrypted caregiver submissions to your review queue
Send push notifications when caregivers submit new logs
Detect and resolve technical issues (if you opt in to crash reporting)

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or monetize your data. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking services.

We may share limited technical information only:

With Service Providers: We use secure infrastructure providers (such as cloud hosting services) to operate the Service. These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
When Required by Law: We may disclose information if required by a valid legal order, such as a subpoena or court order.

5. Your Data Rights

You have complete control over your data:

5.1 Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account. This action will:

Erase all local data from your device
Delete your iCloud backup
Remove your authentication credentials from our servers
Revoke all active caregiver invitations
Delete any pending caregiver submissions

Important: This deletion is permanent and irreversible. We cannot recover your data once deleted.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

Device Security: Authentication tokens and encryption keys are stored in the secure iOS Keychain
Encrypted Communications: All data transmitted between your device and our servers uses TLS/HTTPS encryption
No Third-Party Trackers: We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking services that could compromise your privacy
Minimal Data Collection: We only collect the minimum information necessary to provide the Service

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe your child has provided information through the app, you can delete it using the account deletion feature in Settings.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page or through an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
